Technical Service Bulletin S211-04 v2
A loud squeaking noise comes from the power steering system.

Technical Service Bulletin R-513
For Jaguar vehicles with automatic transmissions, when the forward gear is selected and the vehicle stopped or in a forward motion, the gearbox could possibly and without any indication shift into reverse gear.
The problem may be due to the a lack of enough oil pressure within the transmission and, or a sticking valve in the valve body.
When this happens the transmission will enter a Mechanical Limp Home mode and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp will light up.

Technical Service Bulletin S307-17
Drifting or changing of what the adaptive learning program recorded.
Involving both the engine and the gearbox reprogramming will address the harsh transmission shifts, especially gears 3 to 2, 2 to 1 down-shift and 1 to 2 up-shifts.
Higher than normal clutch pressures are caused by what is called drifting shift program from the adaptive learning program.
The Jaguar transmission adaptions must be cleared. Then use the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) with software release JTP 759/35 or later to reset the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Technical Service Bulletin S307-15
During gearshifts under acceleration a loud squeal or squeak noise heard.

Technical Service Bulletin S307-14
During outside temperatures of 30°C to 50°C (86% 122 % Fahrenheit) the Jaguar engine may surge up to an extra 150rpm during engine warm up and when the vehicle is cursing in the range of 40 mph to 60 mph.

Technical Service Bulletin S307-13
May see the MIL light go on generating a Diagnostic Trouble Code of P0741 in the Transmission Control Module and Engine Control Module, which says the Torque Converter Clutch is Stuck Open.
This calls for a new modified torque converter to replace the faulty old converter with a bad clutch lining.

Technical Service Bulletin S307-12
When the transmission is changing gears from reverse to drive, from fifth to fourth or from second to first the automatic transmission driveline makes a loud clonking or knocking noise.

Technical Service Bulletin S307-11
With Jaguar V6 Engines during warmup, a loud growling noise is heard when in 4th Gear for vehicles mated the ZF6HP26 automatic transmission.
The solution is to reconfigure the TCM.
In other cases the noise is caused by a broken torque converter.

Some 2003 MY S-TYPE vehicles may have some of the problems:
Transmission stutters in second gear.

P0606 code is generated.
Reprogram the Transmission Control Module with the Worldwide Diagnostic System.

Technical Service Bulletin S307-09
Hard shifts and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp will go on from the automatic transmission when in reverse generating code DTC P0736.

Technical Service Bulletin S303-19
Restricted or poor performance, rough Idle, and very harsh transmission shifts.
In the Engine Control Module look for Diagnostic Trouble Codes P1582, P0174, P0171, P1316, P0301 and P0308
